Latest announcement: Based on honesty, the market is changing, and honesty will never change...
RFID technology, namely radio frequency identification technology, is an application technology that integrates automatic identification technology and radio frequency communication technology. It is a non-contact automatic identification technology. In recent years, RFID has been more and more widely used in various fields. Today, let's talk about the application of RFID in the library.
RFID tag
RFID is mainly composed of electronic tags, readers and related application systems. RFID is a network system that uses electromagnetic spectrum to transmit specific identification information in a non-contact, non visual and highly reliable mode. In the field of library management application, RFID system upgrades the traditional barcode technology and security mechanism, speeds up the process of library management automation, and provides a hardware platform for the construction planning of digital library.
1. Automation of management mode
RFID "intelligent collection system" includes a series of automatic management systems, such as librarian service system, chip conversion system, self-service book borrowing system, self-service book returning system, collection liquidation system, channel investigation system, etc. Every book is labeled with RFID, and the RFID inspection machine is installed at the exit of the library. When someone leaves the library with books or other media materials without borrowing records, the RFID inspection machine will sound an alarm. If someone tries to take the book away from the alarm, the library can still track the book and return it to the original place.

2. Service mode evolved first
(1) after entering the library, readers can first search the books on the self-service equipment. Book borrowing is self-service. Readers put the selected books in front of the automatic book borrowing machine and put their own "book borrowing card". The machine will automatically scan and print out the book borrowing voucher. When returning a book, just put the book in the "Book slot" of the automatic return case, and the system will automatically identify the book and update the record. In the process of borrowing and returning books, staff participation can be reduced, and even no staff participation can be achieved.
(2) the workstation of the service center can record and update the book borrowing and returning operation, and can record and update other complex work, such as renewal, fine and so on.
(3) the self-service inquiry system outside the library is 24-hour service. It is very convenient to borrow e-books, periodicals and magazines, and to search e-materials.
(4) the RFID detection door system is stable (not affected by the environment).
(5) during the inventory of the collection warehouse, the librarians only need to hold the terminal of the collection inventory system and move it across the bookshelves to read it. The inventory time is very short. It originally required several people and months of work, which can be completed by one person in half a day. In addition, it is easy to find books that are not on the bookshelves or in disorder, which greatly saves human and material resources, Let staff have more time to help readers or launch more services.

3. RFID tags have more advantages than bar codes
(1) the data can be updated: the barcode cannot be changed after printing, and the RFID electronic tag does not need to limit the number of times to launch, change or delete the data stored in its electronic tag.
(2) convenient data reading: the barcode reader can read the barcode only when the scanning light source is shining on the barcode under the condition of close range and no object blocking. The RFID electronic tag can transmit the signal only within the range of radio wave.
(3) large storage capacity: one dimensional bar code is 50 bytes, and the maximum storage capacity of two-dimensional bar code is 2-3000 bytes; The maximum capacity of RFID tag can reach several megabytes.
(4) it can be used repeatedly: the bar code ends with the end of the service life of the commodity; RFID tags can be reused for many times because of their own data can be upgraded.
(5) the scanning speed is fast, and multiple data can be read at the same time: the barcode reader can only read one barcode data at a time; RFID tag recognizer can identify five tags at the same time.
(6) high security factor: RFID electronic tag reading has password protection, high security protection measures make it difficult to be forged.
(7) durability: in general, bar codes made of traditional paper or plastic materials are sometimes difficult to identify because they are damaged in rainy or humid environment and in the process of handling. RFID has the characteristics of reusing hundreds of thousands or even millions of times, and its material can also be placed in a worse environment, so it is more durable than bar code, and its natural cost is relatively low.
(8) small size: the traditional magnetic bar code is limited by its size, so it is difficult to be embedded in small objects. RFID is not. Its mini size can be hidden in all kinds of objects.
